While you are in Brazil, it will be good to get out and get active. Brazilians play a lot of different sports, and there are many opportunities for you to learn something new, or test your mettle against some locals.
Football
Football is the national sport of Brazil. If you are hankering to kick a ball around, there will always be someone playing football nearby. Your best bet would be to head down to the beach and join a friendly game of beach football. However, if you are more inclined just to watch, grab a ticket to a local game in Rio de Janeiro at Estádio Maracanã. The football season is from January to November and you can get tickets on game day at the stadium. In São Paulo, head to Arena Corinthians to see the home team, Corinthians, play.
Golf
Another great sport to play in Brazil is golf. With Brazil’s large open spaces and temperate weather, it makes for perfect conditions. If in Rio, Gávea Golf Club is open to non-members on weekdays. It is an elite golf course featuring a full 18 holes. More information is available on their website. There is also Golden Green Golf Club in Rio. With only 6 holes it is much smaller, but is still fun to play and has a much cheaper green fee. They are located at Avenida Prefeito Dulcídio Cardoso 2901, Barra da Tijuca. The São Paulo Golf Club is one of the oldest in the country and has an impressive 6,500 yard 18 hole par 71 course. There is also the Guarapiranga Golf and Country Club in São Paulo which is located more towards the city center.
Sky
