Ameyoko, a buzzy market street geared to shopaholics. “Ameya Yokocho”, means “candy store alley”, because candies were traditionally sold here. “Ame” also stands for “America”, since lots of American products used to be smuggled in and sold here during World War II. Today, Ameyoko Aracade is one fabulous, open-air market with items like clothes, bags, cosmetics, fresh fish, dried food and spices available in abundance.
