People from all over Japan flock to Yamamotomenzo to try their famous homemade udon noodles (essentially extra thick noodles). Made from a flour that was selected strictly by the restaurant, the chefs at Yamamotomenzo serve the hot noodles out of the pan to each customer as they walk through the long line.
This place is busy, no matter what time you plan on going. One dish in particular that is quite tasty is the udon noodles topped with burdock tempura, which consists of a clear soup with bonito flakes and a crispy burdock that gives the dish a different texture. You can also try the special curry-flavored salt with your burdock tempura. However, be ready to wait in line eat here; it is a contender for best udon in Kyoto.
