Constructed in 1998, HEP Five is a modern shopping centre specialising mainly in fashion for the young.
Situated in Umeda, Osaka’s central business district, the mall attracts some 17 million visitors every year and is easily recognisable thanks to the 106-metre tall red Ferris wheel on the roof.
HEP Five is home to more than 100 stores, the bulk of which are boutiques offering clothing and accessories. However some larger chains can also be found including Bershka and a Disney store.
The top 2 levels are home to Sega Joypolis, a games arcade popular with Japanese teens, which features a whole floor dedicated to purikura photo booths.
A comrephensive range of Japanese, Korean and Western-style restaurants can be found on the 7th floor.
The rooftop Ferris wheel offers an impressive panorama of surrounding Umeda, and each gondola has a speaker and input jack to play music from your phone.
