Osaka’s largest branch of Japan’s biggest chain of discount stores features 6 floors packed floor to ceiling with everything from food to electronics.
The Don Quijote Dotonbori branch is easily recognisable thanks to the 77-metre tall Ferris wheel running around the outside of the building, which was the first of its kind when it opened in 2005.
Though the ride has been closed for several years, its bright yellow track and colourfully lit gondolas have become a well-known fixture of the surrounding canal area.
Sometimes affectionately referred to as ‘Donki’, the store’s wide range of products including Japanese snacks, clothing, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
The Dotonbori branch is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and duty-free shopping is available for tourists.
Because of its location proximity to the famous Dotonbori Canal, the store can get very busy, particularly during weekends and national holidays.
