The first floor is full of vintage clothes, much of which is from the USA and Europe, but the upper floor is the main draw for most visitors.
Packed with some 2,500 items, including pre-owned kimonos and yukatas, Chicago Thrift Store is a great place to kit yourself out in traditional Japanese dress without breaking the bank.
Other used clothing on sale includes haori (a garment worn over a kimono), juban (a thin undershirt worn under a kimono) and obi sashes (a decorative band knotted at the back of the kimono).
Chicago Thrift Store is part of a small Japanese chain which operates this shop in Kyoto and 4 in Tokyo.
